Alex Kelly Ltd (AK Ltd) is a successful and innovative independent provider of Speech and Language Therapy and Occupational Therapy based in Romsey, Hampshire. AK Ltd has grown organically over the last 10 years, and now employs an ever-growing team of 16 speech and language therapists and an occupational therapist. AK Ltd also runs a unique day service in Romsey, Hampshire which provides a Total Communication environment for adults with a learning disability and / or autism. Within the day service we employ 8 staff who are all trained to a high level to support a variety of communication and sensory needs. This is an exciting and unique opportunity to be part of our latest expansion. Currently AK Ltd offers an OT service into 4 schools, and this is an opportunity to further develop our OT service into 2 new schools. The first is a specialist ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) school which provides a nurturing and dedicated ‘autistic curriculum’ providing ASC pupils with a highly ambitious and inclusive education, mostly delivered on a 1:1 or 2:1 basis. The site is purpose built with a therapy and sensory facilities to support their needs. The second school is a state special school for boys aged 11-16 who have social, emotional, and mental health needs, as well as moderate learning disability and ASD. Currently we have a speech and language therapist working in both schools and as such already have well established links. You will also be asked to do some consultancy work with children in the area, and you will have protected time in your week for CPD.
In the schools you will manage a specialist caseload independently, but under the supervision of the Senior OT, and this will include assessment, diagnosing, prioritizing, managing intervention and discharging students with a range of sensory and engagement needs. You will work closely with teaching staff and other professionals as appropriate, providing advice, training and education as necessary.
